A weekend of Birthdays!

This weekend was jam-packed with fun birthdays. First we celebrated Grandpapa's birthday with BBQ and rhubarb pie- yum!! Then it was off to Moraga for a quick trip down memory lane for Tom as we visited his old elementary school, house and community pool where Marina (Tom's niece) had her 8th Birthday party.

School Time!!

Here is Tony ready for his 3rd day of Pre-Kindergarten at Manzanita Elementary. He started Monday, and so far loves going to school. He didn't even want to finish breakfast this morning- he couldn't wait to get to school. He goes every morning from 8:00-12:00. They get visits from the music teachers once a week, get to check out books at the school library, and eat lunch in the cafeteria just like the big kids. Their classroom has several computers for the kids to use- "Just like at home" he says, "except I get to play tic-tac-toe on the school ones" Here is some of his art work from the first 2 days.....

This one is him on a roller coaster....

This one is his race car....

crash, BANG, wallop!!

Let me preface this by saying I know boys will be boys, but I'm just not quite ready for it yet....Tony has survived his first stiches. Nothing a little Scooby-Do pop and a new movie from Blockbuster can't cure.

We were in the kitchen yesterday checking out Tony's bread that had just came out of the oven (he saw Emily Young making some on the disney channel the other morning and wanted to try his hand at it) I told him that we could use it to make our french toast for 'Breakfast for Dinner'. That caused a fair bit of excitement (it was really pretty cute) The excitement led him to do a little dance of happiness, which resulted in him crashing head-first into the countertop. The crash split his cheek open, which took us to urgent care and left him with 2 stiches under his eye and a fantastic rainbow of colors on his cheek. Let's just say I am extremely thankful he is as tall as he is- half an inch shorter and it would have been his eye!

Camping at Lake Siskiyou

Hi All!

We are back from our "camping pratice run" - first time camping as a family of four- before we head to Yosemite in September. All went really well, and we can't wait for Yosemite. Meagan had a blast, if not slightly frustrated at times because we wouldn't let her down to chase after Tony. She has figured out crawling and is quite proficient at it to boot! She spent most of the time either in the tent or in her portacrib under the trees. Tony popped up after we were finishing dinner- "You know guys, I really like camping with you...." so I guess its safe to say he had a good time too. Saturday we hit the beach for a couple of hours and then wandered into Mc Cloud to ride the train. Sunday was spent exploring the campground and we found a fun little playground where we enjoyed lunch before heading home. Yosemite here we come!

Piano Girl

Meagan has found the piano...she can't resist banging away on it, especially now that she can crawl to it whenever she wants to. Here is her first concert:

Tony's Quilt

So I have finally gotten around to making my own kid a quilt!! Tony has "helping" me put together his quilt- he even picked out the pattern for it. He helps as I sew along, taking the pins out when its time and he helped lay out the diamonds. He is so excited for it to be finished I can't bring myself to work on anything else. With any luck the top will be completed soon so it can be quilted in time for fall....

This n That

Its been a while since I've been able to update- since we've been back from San Diego we've had 2 birthdays, a surprise visit from Nana & Papa, and a trip to Ashland. Things have been busy, to say the least. Here are some pictures from the last month....

Tony turned 4! We had a wonderful party with all the family. Tony inherited Uncle Jim's electric trains and is in train heaven! Mommy & Daddy think its pretty cool too- Its hard to tell who is having more fun out in the garage.

Meagan is now 9 months old and has figured out forward motion. She is all over the place now- time to get out the baby gates! She is starting to pull herself up on stuff as well. Its fun watching her explore.

And last but not least, I turned 30!! Woohoo- I made it! I really extended my birthday this year- Celebrations starting with San Diego, then we took a quick trip up to Ashland and Jacksonville with Nana & Papa for a weekend, then we ended with a yummy dinner with all the family at Mary's Pizza Shack. Life is good :)
