It's Finished!!

Whew.....in a fit of repressed creativity I have been pumping out the projects.
Here is Meagan's quilt. At long last. Don't ask how long this has been in the making....
I even had the top finished and quilted way back in August, but because of student teaching I never had time to get the binding on. If I wasn't totally exhausted, I was feeling a little bit guilty for not spending my free time with the kids. Now that I'm finished with ST, I have a bit more time to play. Thanks to Nana for finishing the binding.....

This loft is a silly little (ok, maybe not so little!) whim that possessed me last week. It's nearly finished (Can you tell I'm procrastinating writing my final philosophy paper and studying for the RICA??) I still need to mount the railings and finish it. The bed is also for Meagan's room. Up next are a couple of bookcases and a desk for underneath the loft. Her room is tiny- 8'x10', so she literally has no space for anything but her bed and dresser. I'm hoping this will help. I combined a couple of different plans from here and viola- this is the result.
It feels so good to let the creativity flow....

1st Day of Preschool

Ok, I can't believe I'm saying this, but Meagan is a preschooler!! We're calling it preschool, even though it is the Pre-K program at Manzanita. She will be in the same program in the fall. I took the easy way: rather than look around for a preschool for her, I heard there was an opening at Pre-K. This way I can drop both kids off at the same time at the same place each morning. I love it! She was just a peanut, not even walking yet when Tony started, and now she's off to school every morning...

Here she is signing in. She is LOVING school! Her teachers say it is like she has been with them since the first day of school. She says the best part is share day (Tuesdays), singing with the new music teacher, and eating lunch in the cafeteria. I'm guessing this is because she gets to see big brother coming in as she is heading out.

A chip off the ol' block??

Like father....

Like son....

I survived the first week!!!

unfortunately, I also forgot to take pictures of Tony's first day of school on Monday. How sad is that??! So I don't have any pics to post this time, but it is what it is....

So, yes, I am one week down on my first student teaching assignment. My brain is mush, my feet are killing me, and I am LOVING it! I have 28 first graders at a "perfect" elementary school here in Redding. My master teacher is wonderful. He has been teaching 1st grade for 25 years and is a wealth of information. The other 1st grade teachers here have been really accepting and welcoming- I am counting my lucky stars every minute of this assignment....which lasts until mid-October. After that things may be a whole other story (last I heard session 2 will be with 38!! 4th graders), but I'll worry about that later!

For now, I am a happy camper. I am also dead tired and I hear a bottle of wine calling my name....

Birthday Fun

Not too long ago, the Tonyman celebrated his 7th birthday. We "kidnapped" 2 of his best buddies and spent the afternoon playing mini-golf and bumper boats before heading up to the lake for a BBQ and swimming. I left the camera at home, so we don't have any pictures from the bumper boats, but here are some from the lake. The boys spent the night and we all made pancakes the next morning.

Yes, this was completely exhausting but totally worth it as Tony declared it was the best birthday party EVER!!
